In 2012, we found there are many children (especially girls) in Sichuan Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, who has no chance for even primary school education due to poverty. XHEF set up Yi minority class (50 students per class) since 2012, providing children with living subsidies and a full-time care teacher. Now, XHEF has sponsored 15 classes, helping 757 Yi students.
With great efforts from both central and local government, “targeted poverty alleviation” policy significantly improved the situation. But there are still many problems need to be solved, such as limited teaching level, old school construction & hardware, low graduation rate, etc…
XHEF decided to upgrade the project from financial assistance to comprehensive support. So, in 2018, XHEF started the whole-school assistance project named “Yi Primary School in the Mountains” in Butuo County, aiming at eliminating the gap between urban and rural educational resources.
XHEF started with primary schools in Tuojue, Butuo County to build e-education model area. Using electronic classrooms as platform, our long-term school based social workers are devoted to improving the educational environment for students through launching Internet courses, which helps to further enhance teachers’ specialty level and promote the comprehensive quality of principals. They also focus on encouraging students’ learning interests and expand their horizons by conducting varied activities like city tour, painting competition, etc…
